I've started a new series on my blog, Suess's Pieces that will be published over the next 12 days.

In light of the approaching holidays, I'm highlighting ways we can all give back. If you have feedback on any of the charities listed in the next couple of weeks, please leave your comments. Also, on the final day, I'll be asking readers to share their favorite ways to give.

The first post in this series was published today, and I'm featuring Heifer International.

Great way to celebrate the holidays Emily!  I have been donating my time for the past several years to a local charity that provides food and gift baskets to the needy in my community and get great enjoyment from helping out...and on top of that - this year I am using Social Media to promote that cause as well as promoting "shop local".  So many businesses locally are depending on Christmas bringing in more sales to make up for their losses in revenue due to the economy.  I strongly support buying in your community from the smaller businesses - great products and services, good deals and many also provide "gift certificates" - a great gift for someone on your list who will discover local businesses.

That's awesome, Diane! I love that you are supporting local businesses this holiday season. We did some Small Business Saturday shopping as well, and I hoping to find some nice gifts from small shops for the items still on my shopping list.
