Review Best Online Order Management Software CRM

(This is an independent review which is conducted without any consultation with vendors.)

An order management system is a computer software system which basically drives a business process or flow which requires creation of quotation, sales order, invoice and receipt of the payment. Orders can be received from businesses, consumers, or a mix of both, depending on the products or services. An integrated order management system should at least include following modules:

  •  Customer and Vendor Information Management
  •  Inventory Management
  •  Order entry and approval
  •  Fulfillment of the order
  •  Payment processing.

For starter, order management software drives the order life cycle of sale. Basically a sale life cycle starts from Quote (or estimate) which a Seller sends to Buyer. The life cycle is shown below:

Seller                    Buyer

Quote       ---------->

    <--------------------    Purchase Order

Sales Order ------->

Delivery  ----------->

Invoice    ----------->

    <---------------          Payment

There are many order management systems in the market which are very complex to understand and use. Many small and medium sized organizations cannot afford to hire IT to configure and train their staffs to use such applications. And in many cases requirements are simple and so they do not want to use a heavy and complex solution for a simple use case.

We will discuss few upcoming and innovative order management applications in this review. This review will be based on the following criteria.

  1. Viable solution for small and medium sized organization (cloud, cost, usability)
  2. Customization - design data entry forms and generate documents
  3. Order fulfillment process: order creation, approval, shipment, return and cancel.
  4. Integration with Credit Cards, Shipping, Other applications etc.

Datamoto online order life-cycle management software puts you in a faster path to recognize revenue, higher customer satisfaction and renewals. Datamoto’s cloud based order management system is an integrated order management system where one can choose to use either both sales and purchase order modules or just one depending on the requirements. Datamoto’s cloud applications are very easy to use and fit for small and midsized businesses.

Datamoto’s order management supports fulfillment of both goods and services.

It is designed for small and midsized businesses and so not a feature crowded solution. It offers complete sales order life cycle: quote -> sales order -> fulfillment -> invoice -> Payment. Besides, return and cancellations of orders are supported. It is flexible and can be customized if needed. Orders can be split or combine, and invoice & inventory are automatically updated. Besides it also provides purchase order module which is perfect for a company to refill its stock by issuing purchase order. Above all its multi-currency support makes it suitable for world wide users. Price wise it is reasonable – it provides free invoice and quote whereas order management is affordable.

Integration with third party applications such as Quick Book, Shopify etc. are not available. Also you cannot import your data from third party applications except spread sheet (CSV file). At the time of this review integration with shipping vendors was not available.

Lettuce is for small businesses which sales goods or products. It simplifies orders, inventory, shipping, invoice and accounting.

Simple and user friendly interface. Limited features which make it perfect for small business.

Sales order, invoice, inventory and payment features are available. Capable of splitting orders and generate multiple invoices.

Integrated with USPS, UPS and FedEx for shipping and tracking orders. It also provides integration with few other third party applications to import or export data.

Limited features. A complete sales order life cycle is not supported such as order cancellation, order return, and compiling multiples orders in a single shipment and invoice. Also quote or estimate module is not available. Seems like multi currency is not fully supported. Little costly for small business.

Fit for small business: 4 stars

Customizations: 2 starts

Order fulfillment: 2 stars

Integration: 3 stars

If you are a seller in multiple ecommerce sales channels such as eBay, Amazon etc. then this is a good solution for you. You can basically manage your inventory from one place and can print packing slips. If you are looking for other business operations then it provides add-ons.

It is not an order management application rather a centralize inventory management application. So this is not suitable for you if you are looking for an order management system.
