No one wants to read an email that’s hard to navigate, boring or an eyesore. Use images and other media to balance text but keep content simple and mobile-friendly. Here are six tips for email layouts that will grab (and hold!) the reader's attention:

Email Layout Tips and Best Practices:

Template: There are thousands of templates to choose from and it can be overwhelming! Bear in mind your template should enhance and not distract from your email's content. Remember that more than half of emails are read on a mobile device so make sure your template is mobile friendly! HINT: single column email templates are best for cross-device compatibility.

Who Are You? Most people scan quickly through their inbox - is your customer (or potential customer) going to know who you are in one second or less? Customize the "From" field so your reader instantly recognizes your company: "john@ShoesRUs" isn't as recognizable as "Shoes R Us".

Call-To-Action: Congratulations! You got your reader to open your email - now what do you want them to do after reading it? Remember that readers usually scan an email and where you place your CTA and how it looks are important. If you bury it at the bottom of your email, it will be overlooked. Keep the text in your CTA short and the directive clear, and place it above the fold.

Links: It is easy to get link-happy in your email, but be strategic! Too many overwhelm the reader, so be sure to prioritize the links you want to grab their attention, like your social media buttons and/or website home page. Instead of a link, consider integrating a social media feed for maximum visual impact!

Images: Everyone loves pictures, and impactful images are critical to break up text and create a visually pleasing effect, but be sure not to overdo it! Constant Contact reports higher click through rates with 3 or less images. Be sure the images are clear, sized correctly and are relevant to the content of your email.

Signature: Customized email signatures are an effective tool that is often overlooked. Create a customized digital signature that includes all your contact information and your logo to increase brand recognition!

Really good advice! But sometimes there is no time, so you should contact the professionals. For example, you can develop your own email marketing system which will work and give results. Look more here - there are a lot of variants.

You really helped me out! The key to successful email marketing is to make sure you are delivering the best quality messages you can. You have to make your emails look professional if you want them to be read. For example if you are using an email marketing service like MailChimp you can automate your emails in order to have them sent out to your audience whenever you want.
